Radio Frequency Vein Closure
Dr. Rubino has performed over 2,000 in-office, virtually pain-free, radio frequency procedures to end the pain, discomfort and unsightliness of varicose veins. With the assistance of ultrasound, a small catheter is inserted into a vein through a tiny incision. Radio-frequency energy, also known as RF, brings heat to the vein to shrink the walls and seal the vein shut. Blood is then naturally redirected to other nearby healthy veins. After the procedure, a band-aid is placed at the small incision site. There is little (if any) pain during the treatment, and minimal or no scarring, bruising or swelling at the vein site.
Venaseal Vein Closure
Since 2017, Dr. Rubino has been performing the newest option for varicose vein treatment called Venaseal. Similar to radio frequency vein closure, with the assistance of ultrasound, a small catheter is inserted into a vein through a tiny incision and a glue-like substance is injected into the vein to seal the vein closed. Blood is then naturally redirected to other nearby healthy veins. After the procedure, a band-aid is placed at the small incision site. There is little (if any) pain during the treatment, and minimal or no scarring, bruising or swelling at the vein site. During your evaluation, Dr. Rubino will let you know if Venaseal is an option for you.
